In Jammu and Kashmir, which has been facing terrorism for many decades, several campaigns are being launched continuously to eradicate terrorism. The situation in Jammu and Kashmir, which became a union territory after the removal of the special status, is rapidly returning to normal. However, many terrorists are still active there. Apart from the efforts of the army, now the Jammu and Kashmir Police is also ready to make an important contribution in eliminating the terrorists through its special battalion. The police here has fielded its first border battalion.

The first Border Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Police has entered the field. The soldiers and officers involved have shouldered their responsibilities from the plains of Kathua to the Line of Control (LOC) in the hills of North Kashmir. According to the Director General of Police, these personnel have been thoroughly trained in guerrilla warfare.

Thousands of soldiers in the 1st Border Battalion

According to state Director General of Police RR Swain, about one thousand soldiers have been inducted into the border battalion of police and 560 of them have been deployed in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts under Jammu division. The rest of the troops have been deployed in areas along the LoC in Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora in the Kashmir Valley.

Director General of Police Swain said the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Army are already present along the international border and LOC. In such a situation these police personnel will form another circle of anti-intrusion system. These troops will only be involved in setting up checkpoints in border areas, continuous patrolling of infiltration-prone areas and operations to eliminate infiltrators and terrorists.

Shall not be part of a security force or escort

On the question of inclusion in escort, DGP Swain further said that no one can use them for their security force, escort or any other office related activities.

Around 110 foreign terrorists are currently active in the union territory, with 31 local terrorists also involved. Among these local terrorists, 4 terrorists are active in Jammu division and 27 terrorists are active in Kashmir division. After Army and BSF, now Jammu and Kashmir Police has also formed a special force which will help in eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
