Nikhil Bhatt is not afraid of criticism

Lakshya Lalwani and Raghav Juyal starrer ‘Kill’ will have more violence than Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’. Because this was made clear in the teaser released in April itself, which is full of blood, intense fight scenes, suspense and hair-raising action. The director himself called it the most violent film made in India. Now Nikhil Bhatt has spoken about the idea of the film and the criticism of the film for being violent.

Recalling his college days in a recent interview, Nikhil said, “As a student in 1994-95, I used to travel from Patna to Pune in the sleeper class of the Bombay Janata Express. One night, I was startled when the train stopped at a small station. I saw that we were not in Allahabad, where we were supposed to be. Then there was an uproar that looting was taking place in AC coaches! In my coach, a group of Danapur soldiers were laughing, confident that they would prevent any looting in our sleeper coach. I remember that accident for years.”

“Don’t be afraid of criticism”

Nikhil said that he is not afraid of the criticism that the film will receive. Citing the example of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, he said that despite its success at the box office, it was criticized for its depiction of guns, axes and bloodshed. He said, “If ‘Animal’ was criticized on the one hand, it was also praised to a large extent and was a big blockbuster film.

“I’m a very greedy filmmaker”

He continued, “As a filmmaker I am always willing to experiment. I’m a very greedy filmmaker, so if someone criticizes it for the right reasons, I’ll learn from it. But having said that, ‘Kill’ is a very violent film, so it’s being criticized, so it’s almost like a horror film that’s being criticized for scaring people.”
