The case of the alleged rape of a woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain is gaining political momentum. State Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday promised strict action against the culprits in view of opposition forces’ opposition. He also accused the opposition of maintaining silence on the rape and murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata and politicizing crime.
According to a PTI report, a woman was allegedly forced to drink liquor and then raped in Ujjain’s Agar Naka area on Thursday. The incident came to light when a video of the incident made by a pedestrian was shared on social media.
CM said- there is rule of law in the state
After this video surfaced on social media, the state government came under attack from the opposition forces. The opposition has criticized the government, claiming it has failed to protect women. Amid attacks from the opposition, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said there is rule of law in Madhya Pradesh and the government will deal sternly with the culprits. No one will be spared. Be it Ujjain or anywhere in the state. We are committed to good governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ujjain is the hometown of CM
Ujjain being Yadav’s hometown is also raising questions. CM also has home department. The CM said that people who are doing politics should mind their own affairs. Understandable if one cares about the states they rule. They do not open their mouths on the Kolkata incident. Wherever there is a problem in the state, the government will deal with it strictly. In this case, the police have arrested the person who made the video of the incident and then shared it on social media. The person has been identified as Mohammad Salim.
Priyanka Gandhi targeted the government
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has termed the Ujjain incident as extremely horrific. While posting on social media, he said that the incident of rape of a woman on the sidewalk during the day is extremely horrifying. Today the whole country is shocked as to where our society is going. He also expressed surprise at making a video of the incident and said that humanity has been tarnished by such an incident.
