A pillar of the Bailey Bridge collapsed due to the strong flow of water
A pillar of the Sono-Churehat Bailey Bridge in Bihar’s Jamui has caved in due to torrential rains for the past three days due to heavy water flow. Due to this, there has been a commotion in the administrative department. SDO Abhay Tiwari reached the spot on receiving information about the collapse of the bridge pillar and conducted an investigation. Meanwhile, in view of the strong flow of water in the river, barricades have been placed on the bridge and the movement of people has been banned.
According to information received, DM Abhilash Sharma and many other senior officials also arrived to inspect the bridge. The news of the collapse of the pillar of the Bailey Bridge here is spreading like wildfire throughout the district, once again questions are being raised about the administration.
The Sono-Churehat bridge was damaged
The Sono-Churehat bridge was damaged after rains in Sono in Jamui district in September. Ten piers of the bridge were crushed, causing the bridge to tilt to one side and barricading the administration to stop traffic. Due to the damage to the causeway on the Bernar River, the block headquarters lost contact with the western area. Villagers also cite several other reasons behind the bad condition of the bridge.
Another bridge was built after ten piers collapsed
Over two dozen villages and a population of over one and a half lakh have been cut off due to the collapse of ten bridge piers, forcing the people of these villages to travel nearly 15 kilometers to reach the block headquarters. After receiving information about the collapse of the bridge, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also came to inspect the bridge and instructed to build a Bailey bridge here for the convenience of the people, which was completed in less than a month. People started coming and going, but heavy rains for the last three days caused a pillar of the Bailey Bridge to collapse, causing panic among the people.
