The ongoing uproar over the rape and murder of a trainee female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital and Medical College shows no signs of abating. Meanwhile, there has been a new twist in this matter. Police administration has come in support of SHO Abhijeet Mandal arrested by CBI. A senior officer of the Kolkata Police says that Abhijit Mandal conducted the preliminary investigation of the case in a transparent manner.
Abhijit Mandal was arrested by the CBI last Saturday for delaying by 14 hours in lodging an FIR in the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, a senior official said on Monday, adding that he had investigated the case with full transparency.
Additional Commissioner Abhijit met Mandal’s family
Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Police V Solomon Nesakumar along with other senior officers of Kolkata Police met the family of arrested Abhijit Mandal and assured them all possible help. Talking to the media, Nesakumar said that he had met Abhijeet’s family. In the meantime, he spoke to his wife and told her that the police department was with him like a family and also assured her of all possible help.

Nesakumar says he personally believes Abhijit Mandal is not guilty. He had good intentions behind everything he did. He worked in the interest of justice by reaching the spot in the shortest possible time and investigating the case in full transparency.
CBI arrested Abhijeet Mandal
Last Saturday, the CBI arrested the in-charge of Tala police station in the case of rape and murder of an on-duty doctor, whose body was found in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 last month. Actually, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital comes under the jurisdiction of Tala Police Station.
According to a central agency official, Abhijit Mandal is accused of tampering with evidence, delay in lodging FIR and other related offences. On Saturday, the CBI arrested Tala police station in-charge Abhijeet Mandal along with Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Cars. Sandeep Ghosh is already in custody in a corruption case. He was arrested in connection with financial irregularities at the hospital.
