Cancer patients in Himachal Pradesh will get free treatment. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has taken this decision considering the increasing cases of cancer in the state. CM Sukhu took this decision after a meeting held in Shimla last Monday. The Chief Minister said that 42 cancer medicines will be provided free of charge in all government hospitals of the state. Trastuzumab vaccine is also included in this list of 42 drugs, the market price of which is around 40 thousand rupees.

CM Sukhu said that according to the population ratio, Himachal Pradesh has the second highest number of cancer cases in the whole of North India. Among the free drugs, the government will also provide trastuzumab vaccine for breast cancer. The price of this one vaccine is 40 thousand rupees. At the same time, a breast cancer patient has to take about 18 vaccinations throughout the year.

CM Sukhu said that Cancer Care Center of Excellence will be established in Hamirpur. World class technology will be used in this center. The government will also set up a Department of Nuclear Medicine at the Centre, through which a large capacity nuclear lab and cyclotron will be made available. The CM said that the government has sanctioned Rs 300 crore for better cancer treatment. A Center of Excellence Cancer Care will be established at a cost of 255 crores in Hamirpur alone. At the same time, its infrastructure will be prepared at a cost of Rs 75 crore.
Cancer day care center will be provided to the patients
The government will spend Rs 150 crore for world-class cancer treatment equipment. CM Sukhu said that cancer based registry will be started in the state. The number of cancer cases will be studied through it. Screening facility will also be prepared for people. For this, the government will soon start a pilot project from one district of Himachal. The government will make cancer day care centers available in 68 hospitals of the state in a phased manner. The Chief Minister said that cancer day care centers are being established in the state in phases. In the first phase, Cancer Day Care Centers have been established in 13 hospitals.
