  3. If any tax is outstanding at the time of filing late ITR, penal interest will be payable. This is levied at the rate of 1% per month. Penal interest is levied under sections 234A, 234B and 234C depending on the type of tax outstanding.
  4. If your tax refund is issued after filing the late return, it is delayed. Due to the delay in filing the ITR, the processing will be delayed and the refund will be delayed.
