Roads will be better in Bihar. CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday conducted a high-level review of matters related to four proposed and under-construction expressways/highways in Bihar. CM Nitish Kumar held this high level review meeting at ‘Sankalp’ located at 1 Annie Marg. In this meeting, a high-level review was conducted on the connectivity of Bodhgaya/Rajgir with four proposed and under construction expressways/highways namely Gorakhpur-Siliguri, Raxaul-Haldia, Patna-Purnia Greenfield and Amas- in the state of Bihar. Darbhanga Road.
During the review, the Chief Secretary informed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar through a presentation that Rs 84 thousand 734 crore will be spent on the construction of 1,575 km expressway path under these four major projects. In which the length of roads in Bihar will be 1,063 km and 59 thousand 173 crore rupees will be spent on it.
Notably, the state government has currently developed a network of roads to reach capital Patna from any corner of the state within five hours. Now an action plan has been proposed with the aim of reaching Patna within four hours from any corner of the state in the next five years. Under this, further action is being taken for construction of new expressway/highway in the state.
600 km long Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway
The Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will pass through eight districts of the state, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj, with a total length of 600 km. In which 415 km long area of ​​Bihar state will be included. For this, 100 meters wide land has to be acquired. Raxaul-Haldia Expressway: This project is being constructed with the aim of providing fast connectivity from the International Check Post located at Raxaul to the nearby port of Haldia.
Its total length is 702 km, of which 367 km will be in Bihar. It will pass through East Champaran, Shivhar, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jamui and Banka districts of the state. 100 meters wide land has to be acquired for this.
Similarly, the Patna-Purnia Greenfield Expressway will start from the proposed Digwara Bridge of the Patna Ring Road and be built up to Purnia. Its total length will be 250 km. It will pass through Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Madhepura and Purnia districts. For this also 100 meters wide land has to be acquired. Besides this, a four-lane spur is to be constructed for Bodhgaya/Rajgir connectivity with the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway. For this, 45 meters wide land has to be acquired.
Traffic facilitation due to construction of expressway
During the review, CM Nitish Kumar said that the construction of this expressway will further boost traffic in the state. People will save time to go from one place to another. After coming to power in 2005, roads and bridges were built to improve transportation. A network of roads was developed to reach the capital within five hours from any corner of the state. He said that the land acquisition work for this proposed expressway should be done on time and people should not face any kind of inconvenience in this work.
