A newly wedded bride arrived at the Women’s Helpline office wearing bangles and a red pair. I was out of breath. “I need your help,” he said as he entered. The female helpline staff gave her a chair to sit on. Then after giving water he said – tell me calmly what has happened to you. The bride said – I don’t want to live with my husband. My marriage has been forced. I’m not a girl at all. The employees present there were shocked after hearing this.

The case is from Patna in Bihar. The bride said- how can I live with my husband when I am not a girl. The women helpline staff asked her – who forced you to marry? You are dressed as a bride yourself. The girl said- Sir, I am a transman. My family still got me married. I am not happy with this marriage. I don’t consider him my husband. I want to break this marriage.

Then the women’s helpline called her husband after giving a notice on her application. According to LGBT rights, the law will protect a person if they call themselves a transman or transwoman. He can live life as per his wish.
