Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kanwar Singh Tanwar has surprised everyone by winning the Amroha Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. His opponent was Kunwar Danish Ali of Congress. There was fierce competition between the two parties. At the same time, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) fielded Mujahid Hussain from the seat, making the seat triangular. BSP defeated BJP and SP and both parties had to work hard to win. Ultimately BJP was able to win.

According to the Election Commission, 11 lakh 10 thousand 690 voters exercised their franchise in Amroha Lok Sabha seat, out of which 2055 votes were cast through postal ballot. BJP got 42.9 percent, Congress 40.32 percent and BSP 14.77 percent votes. Kanwar Singh Tanwar of BJP got 4 lakh 76 thousand 506 votes and Danish Ali of Congress got 4 lakh 47 thousand 836 votes. While BSP’s Mujahid Hussain got 1 lakh 64 thousand 99 votes. Kanwar Singh Tanwar defeated Danish Ali by a narrow margin of 28670 votes.

Who is Kanwar Singh Tanwar?

BJP leader Kanwar Singh Tanwar, who won the Amroha Lok Sabha seat, was born in 1960 in Janakpuri, Amroha. His father Hukum Chand Tanwar hails from Fatehpur village of Chhatarpur, Delhi. Kanwar Singh has studied till 8th standard. He entered politics only in the 90s.

He was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from Amroha Lok Sabha seat in the year 2014. During this period, he was also a member of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In addition, he also held the role of Permanent Special Invitee in the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Rural Development-Panchayat Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Kanwar Singh Tanwar lost the 2019 election

In the year 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections for the second time on a BJP ticket. However, this time he had to face defeat by 63 thousand votes in a fierce contest. Danish Ali, who contested on BSP ticket, defeated him. This time too he was competing with Danish Ali, but this time he managed to win.
