There has been a big upset at the last minute on the Sirsa seat in the Haryana assembly elections. The nomination of Rohtas Jangra, who is trying his luck on a BJP ticket, has been withdrawn. Due to which, now in Sirsa, there has been a confrontation between Gopal Kanda and Congress candidate Gokul Setia. Although Gopal Kanda’s fight in Sirsa looks favorable after the BJP candidate withdrew, it could raise tensions for the BSP-INLD alliance. In such a situation, questions are being raised whether this is a political move by Gopal Kanda or a nexus of BSP-INLD with BJP?
Politics has heated up after the withdrawal of nomination of BJP candidate Rohtas Jangra from Sirsa. Congress has started saying that there is an internal nexus between BJP, INLD and BSP in Haryana, so Gopal Kanda is now on the sidelines. Gopal Kanda is contesting from his Haryana Lokhit Party, supported by the BSP-INLD alliance. Rohtas Jangra says that the BJP gave him the ticket and he has taken it back. In such a situation, it is believed that BJP has withdrawn its candidate in support of Gopal Kanda.
Gopal’s wrist tension increased
Not everything happened spontaneously in Sirsa, but this is also being said because Gopal Kanda was in talks for an alliance with the BJP. On the last day of nomination, he joined hands with BSP-INLD. Rohtas Jangra entered as a BJP candidate. Gopal Kanda could win by just 602 votes last time. In 2019, independent candidate Gokul Setia gave him a tough fight. This time Gokul Setia is trying his luck on a Congress ticket in the elections, due to which tension has increased for Gopal Kanda.

In Sirsa, the entry of BJP and INLD candidates was likely to split the vote. According to political analysts, the BJP has withdrawn its candidate against Gopal Kanda as per a determined strategy, as he has stood firm with the BJP government for the past five years. The withdrawal of the BJP candidate may prove politically beneficial for Gopal Kanda, but has raised concerns about the BSP-INLD alliance. The Congress has also started alleging that the BSP-INLA is in collusion with the BJP.
BSP, B-Team of BJP
The BSP is already facing accusations of being the B-team of the BJP. BSP is fighting for its political survival with INLD in Haryana. In such a situation, the BJP candidate has created a new problem for BSP-INLD by withdrawing the nomination in support of Gopal Kanda. So now clarifying the whole matter, Gopal Kanda said that various kinds of talks are going on, but the alliance is only with INLD and BSP. Gopal Kanda said that he never sought support from BJP nor did he receive any call from BJP.
Denied collusion
Gopal Kanda insisted that his alliance is only with INLD and BSP. Kanda also said that a rally of Mayawati and INLD leader and former CM Om Prakash Chautala would be organized in Sirsa soon. He said that he would answer why the BJP candidate withdrew his name. I have nothing to do with them. Thus there have been moves to deny the allegations of collusion with the BJP, but the Congress is busy reinforcing it. The Congress has started saying that Abhay Chautala-led INLD and Mayawati’s BSP are in alliance with the BJP.
Gopal Kanda and Gokul Setia
Gopal Kanda has now strengthened his position with a double game, but the Congress candidates are also weak. Kanda has managed to win twice from the Sirsa assembly seat while Gokul Setia also came close to victory in the last election. Gokul Setia is the grandson of Laxman Das Arora, a four-time Congress MLA from Sirsa. Thus the contest has become very interesting, but the narrative of the BJP team against the BSP and INLD could be a big challenge. Can INLD and BSP’s dream of being kingmakers in Haryana also be eclipsed?
