Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

For the last few days, huge protests have been taking place in Kolkata to bring justice to the female trainee doctor. The Bharatiya Janata Party has called a bandh today in protest against the action taken on Tuesday’s student protest, prompting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to say that the BJP does not want justice, they are only trying to defame Bengal. He also said that we will bring a law where cases will be disposed of within 10 days.

Talking about giving justice to the rape victims, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that we will convene the assembly session next week. We will bring a new law to give justice to rape victims in West Bengal, where cases will be over in just 10 days. The proposal will be sent to the Governor for approval. If the Governor does not pass it, they will also protest against the Raj Bhavan.

BJP people don’t want justice: Mamata

Amid the 12-hour ‘Bengal Bandh’ called by the BJP today, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “We have dedicated this day to doctors. We want justice in this matter but BJP has announced bandh today. “They do not want justice, but are only trying to defame Bengal.”

Mamata said, “We dedicate this day to those who have endured torture and suffered great loss. BJP has deliberately declared a bandh to politicize corpses. They are trying to divert the opposition of the doctors. I condemn them. BJP people set fire to the bus and brutally attacked the police. Railway services were also disrupted.

BJP should stay closed to PM: Mamata

He further said, “We do not support this bandh… BJP has never demanded the resignation of Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Manipur… BJP is very tyrannical, BJP is full of atrocities. BJP should stay closed to PM. need PM has not taken any responsibility for the incidents in UP, Assam, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. We saw the pictures of yesterday (Nabanna protest rally), I salute the police for handling the situation well.

Reiterating the call for death penalty for rape victims, CM Mamata Banerjee said, “There is only one punishment for this – hanging.”

BJP should first take action against its CM: Abhishek

Abhishek Banerjee also hit out at the BJP on the 27th foundation day of West Bengal Trinamool Congress’s student wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad in Kolkata, saying, “Let me give you a figure, the worst states for women’s safety in the last few years. UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra. First you take action against the CM of these states, then demand Mamata’s resignation. “I ask the BJP to demand that a fast-track process be initiated against the rape law,” he said.

Abhishek Banerjee said, “The Trinamool Congress will hold a major agitation in Delhi if the central government does not pass a time-bound law on crimes against women in the next 3-4 months.” He also said that we oppose the 12-hour ‘Bengal Bandh’ called by the BJP.
