NDRF personnel are doing relief work
More than three dozen people were working inside that old building in Transport Nagar, located along Shaheedpath in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, when suddenly they felt an earthquake. The building vibrated for about 15 seconds. Before people could think of anything and tried to get out, strange noises started coming. After this, the entire building collapsed in no time. All the people working inside the building were buried in it.
People present outside the building immediately reported the matter to the police. After this, teams of police, fire brigade, SDRF and NDRF reached the spot and started relief work. The teams rescued 28 people trapped inside the building till late night. All these people were seriously injured. Dead bodies of 8 people were also recovered. The rescue operation continued till Sunday morning. According to the police, all the 8 deceased have been identified as Manjit Singh Sahni, Dheeraj, Pankaj, Arun, Ram Kishore, Rajesh Kumar, Rudra Yadav and Jagarup Singh.
All these people used to make medicines inside this building. On the other hand, the people present around this building said that the way this accident happened is a big thing for the people to survive. According to eyewitnesses, first the pillar broke and then the building collapsed. This raised huge clouds of dust. Naseem, who runs a shop in the neighborhood, said there was a lot of work at his shop at the time of the accident, glass was being cut to fit vehicles. Meanwhile there was a loud noise.

Atul, a youth working in a nearby building, said that his younger brother used to work in the same building. According to Atul, the accident happened in front of him. Chaos spread here as soon as the pillar broke. He himself also ran to save his brother. Luckily he saved his brother, but both of them were injured.
Atul’s brother said he was working inside. Meanwhile, it seemed that an earthquake had occurred. This incident happened about 15 minutes before the accident. The whole building was shaking for about 15 seconds. After this there was a sound of pillars breaking and the entire building collapsed.
