The incident took place on the night of May 29. A scuffle broke out between security personnel and devotees at the Nirmalya Gate of the Mahakaleshwar temple for about half an hour. After this the matter came to blows. Meanwhile, a devotee present there recorded a video of the incident and uploaded it on social media, which went viral.

At the same time, when the viral video was scrutinized, it was found that VIP devotees were allowed in at the Nirmalya Gate while stopping the general devotees. Seeing this, the common devotees got angry. He said that the security guards were not allowing anyone to enter through that gate, while when Harsh Singh, a devotee from Indore, tried to enter with his family, the security guards beat him up. This was followed by a prolonged scuffle between the security personnel and the devotees, as the temple gates were closed at this time. Due to which no complaint could be made in this matter during the night.
