The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) hoisted its flag in the Baghpat Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. This parliamentary area is called Jutland. Here RLD candidate Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan has defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Amarpal. At the same time, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) fielded Parveen Bainsla. It was being said that the BSP would play an important role in this three-cornered contest, but it did not seem to be the case. Although he definitely got more than 90 thousand votes.

According to the Election Commission, 9 lakh 33 thousand 773 voters exercised their franchise in the Baghpat Lok Sabha seat this time, out of which 5145 votes were cast through postal ballot. RLD got 52.36 percent, SP 35.29 percent and BSP 9.88 percent votes. RLD’s Rajkumar Sangwan got 4 lakh 88 thousand 967 votes, while SP’s Amarpal got a total of 3 lakh 29 thousand 508 votes. At the same time, BSP candidate Praveen Bainsla got 92 thousand 266 votes. RLD defeated Amarpal by 1 lakh 59 thousand 459 votes.

Dr. Bagpat won on Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket under NDA alliance. Rajkumar Sangwan is a resident of Upalehada village in Meerut. He had his primary education from Meerut. He did his MA and LLB from Meerut College, after practicing law for a few days, he did his PhD in History. Chaudhary Charan Singh was also the subject of his research. After receiving his PhD degree, Dr. Sangwan started teaching history in a college in Meerut. He retired as a professor last year.

Who is Rajkumar Sangwan?

Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan first met Chaudhary Charan Singh in the year 1979 in Meerut. At that time Dr. Sangwan was doing student politics while graduating from Meerut College. Coincidentally at the same time Chaudhary Charan Singh came to Meerut and met him at the circuit house. After this meeting, Dr. Sangwan decided to remain celibate for the rest of his life and devote his entire life to politics.

Sangwan, a major student leader in western UP, is one of the major leaders of the RLD. He took a vow to remain celibate for life to serve the RLD. Dr. Sangwan, who has completed 61 years of age, is currently the National Secretary of RLD. He learned the art of politics from the farmers’ messiah Chaudhary Charan Singh. Since then he has been trusted by the Chaudhary family.

First became District Vice President of Meerut in 1982

In 1980, he went to jail for the first time in the agitation caused by Bagpat’s Maya Tyagi incident. Apart from this, he also went to jail several times during student agitations and farmers’ agitations. The RLD made him the district vice-president of Meerut in 1982, then in 1986 he became the national vice-president of the student RLD. In 1990 he was also the District President of Yuva RLD, Meerut. His party made him the in-charge of Jharkhand and Bihar elections in 1995. Currently he is the National Secretary of RLD.
