Yusuf Pathan won the Lok Sabha elections from Behrampur.
41-year-old Yusuf Pathan, who frequently inquired about bowlers on the cricket field, has now reached Parliament. On a Trinamool Congress ticket, Yusuf Pathan registered a resounding victory from the Behrampur seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He defeated five-time MP and senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary from Behrampur by 85 thousand 22 votes. In the election Yusuf got 5 lakh 24 thousand 516 votes while Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary got 4 lakh 39 thousand 494 votes. BJP candidate Nirmal Kumar Saha is third in this seat. He got 3 lakh 71 thousand 885 votes in his name.
Yusuf Pathan, who joined the Indian cricket team in 2007, retired from all forms of cricket in 2021. Yusuf Pathan, a native of Gujarat, was a part of Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League for many years and earned a lot of name. This time, before the Lok Sabha elections, he joined the TMC and the party fielded him against Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary. Amidst all the allegations and promises, the fourth phase of polling for the Behrampur Lok Sabha seat was held on May 13. Here 75.36 percent people exercised their franchise.

TMC assigned him a challenging task in this Lok Sabha election. He was fielded from a seat that the TMC had not won even once. Moreover, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary was the senior Congress leader in Bengal. He dominated this seat for 25 years. He was also accused of being an outsider when his name was announced, but Yusuf kept busy campaigning and boasting about his victory. Finally he broke the fortress of Adhir.

According to the information given in the election affidavit, Yusuf Pathan has movable and immovable assets worth 45 crore 63 lakh 4 thousand 16 rupees. Yusuf also has a liability of 11 crore 96 lakh 70 thousand 558 crore rupees. Yusuf Pathan has studied till 11th standard. Apart from this, there is not a single criminal case against him.
On the cricket field
Yusuf Pathan, who came from sports to politics, scored 810 runs with the help of 43 sixes and 62 fours and took 33 wickets in his cricket career in 57 ODI matches. He played 22 T-20 internationals in which he scored 236 runs. During this he hit 17 sixes and 11 fours. Apart from this, he also got 13 wickets. His strike rate was over 146. He is known for hitting long sixes on the cricket field. The first T-20 World Cup was held in April 2007. Yusuf was also selected in the team. Yusuf Pathan had a brilliant IPL career. He started his IPL career with the Rajasthan Royals team. However, he later joined the Kolkata team and retired from there.

Yusuf Pathan was born on 17 November 1982 in Baroda, Gujarat. Yusuf’s father Mahmood Khan was a muezzin in the mosque and his childhood was spent in poverty. Yusuf’s younger brother Irfan Pathan is one of the great all-rounders of Team India and now does commentary in cricket matches. Yusuf is married to Afreen, a physiotherapist based in Mumbai. Yusuf and Afrin have two sons.
