Saugata Roy won the Lok Sabha elections from Dumdum
Lok Sabha Election 2024 results are out. In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has performed brilliantly and won 29 out of 42 seats in this Lok Sabha election. There were several TMC leaders in West Bengal who scored a hat-trick of wins this time or won for the fourth time. Strong TMC leader Saugat Roy also managed to win four times this time. Saugat Roy defeated the BJP candidate from Dumdum Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 70 thousand 660 votes.
While the TMC this time also fielded Saugata Roy, who had confirmed his seat in Parliament for the last three terms, he said that he would work hard to win the seat. This time Saugat Roy has got 5 lakh 28 thousand 579 votes in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP candidate Sheelbhadra Dutta stood second. He got 4 lakh 57 thousand 919 votes.

Sougat Roy started his political journey from the Congress Party. He was the general secretary of the student council of the West Bengal unit of the Congress student wing from 1968 to 1970. After this, he was the General Secretary of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee from 1973-77. In 1979, he was the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Chemicals. Saugata also won assembly elections five times from 1987 to 2009. Since then he has been a continuous MP.
