Thrilling incident at Mumbai airport, rape accused attempted suicide

The 24-year-old accused tried to commit suicide by cutting the vein of his hand at Mumbai airport. But his life was saved due to the alertness of the police there. He was given first aid and immediately admitted to Cooper Hospital for further treatment. Sahar Police is investigating further in this case.

According to the information received, this incident is of June 3. The name of the accused is Mohammad Afrid (age 24) and a lookout notice was issued against him by the Karnataka Police. A case was registered against him in Karnataka. On June 3, at around 10 am, a passenger Mohammad Afrid, who arrived in Mumbai from Dubai, was stopped by a woman officer. Mohammad Afrid is an accused in a rape case registered at Siddapura Police Station in Karnataka and the Superintendent of Police of Kodagu district has issued a lookout notice against him.

Upon investigation, it was found that Mohammad Afridi is the same accused and the complainants made him sit in the interrogation room of the immigration wing in-charge. However, while the process of handing over Mohammad Afridi to Sahar police was going on, at around 11.30 pm, he tried to end his life by cutting the vein of his left wrist with a sharp object nearby. The injured Mohammad Afridi was given first aid and immediately admitted to Cooper Hospital for further treatment. A case of attempted suicide has been registered against the accused and Sahar police is investigating the matter further.
