Lok Sabha and assembly elections were held simultaneously in the state of Odisha. In this state, BJP got the maximum number of seats in the Lok Sabha. So, Biju Janata Dal, which ruled Odisha since 1997, lost to BJP. BJP won 78 seats in the 147-seat assembly. At the same time, BJD won only 51 and Congress won 14 seats. Thus, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s long rule over Odisha for the last 24 years came to an end. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik submitted his resignation to Governor Raghubar Das at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. However, Odisha state officials are worried after Naveen Patnaik’s resignation from the post of Chief Minister. Their biggest concern is the construction of a bungalow for the new Chief Minister.

Even though BJP has won the Odisha assembly elections, there are many challenges. This victory will change not just political power but everything. Since former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was in power for 24 years, many things were stable. He ruled since 2000. But, the biggest thing is that the new Chief Minister currently does not have any official residence in the state. At present, the officials are not able to find any suitable bungalow to build a bungalow for the new Chief Minister.

Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik used to look after the entire work of the government from his house ‘Naveen House’. Instead of shifting to the government residence, he was doing all the work from his home. His private bungalow was the official residence of the Chief Minister for the last 24 years. Naveen Patnaik has been working from home for two and a half decades.

Naveen Patnaik’s father Biju Patnaik had built a luxurious bungalow for himself in the capital Bhubaneswar. After becoming the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik decided not to live in the government residence. He started working from his father’s bungalow. He also performed all the responsibilities of the post of Chief Minister from this bungalow.

It is clear that after the assembly elections, only BJP will have a Chief Minister in the state. However, BJP has not yet chosen a new Chief Minister. However, the officials have started looking for a residence for the new Chief Minister. They have started looking for a suitable bungalow for the Chief Minister. Many bungalows are first built by the officials. But, it will take some time to complete. One of these bungalows can be Naveen Patnaik’s complaint room. When Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Minister, he used to come here to meet people.

At present, the Chief Minister does not have a residence. Therefore, a suite is being prepared in the state guest house for the new Chief Minister. Before Naveen Patnaik, both Chief Ministers Hemanand Biswal and Janaki Ballabh Patnaik lived in a small bungalow. In 1995, the new Chief Minister who succeeded JP Patnaik shifted the Chief Minister’s Office to a two-storey building. Naveen Patnaik’s public grievance cell was in this building. But, after Naveen Patnaik became the Chief Minister in 2000, he started living in his bungalow.
