BSP chief Mayawati
Party officials from across the country gathered at the Bahujan Samaj Party office in Lucknow today for the election of the party’s national president. Mayawati has been re-elected as the party’s national president after the BSP national executive meeting was called today to elect the president, which started around 12 noon on Tuesday. She has been the party president since 2003, but this time Mayawati has been given the responsibility at a time when the party is going through its worst phase.
Party General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra proposed Mayawati’s name, which was approved by all party leaders. Putting an end to the ongoing news about his retirement on Monday, he said that there is no question of my retirement from active politics. Ever since the party put forward Akash Anand as the BSP successor in my absence, the casteist media has been propagating such fake news so people should be careful.
2. That is, there is no question of my retiring from active politics. Ever since the party put forward Shri Akash Anand as the successor of BSP in my absence or because of his ill health, the casteist media has been propagating such fake news so that people should be careful.

Has been the National President since 2003
BSP supremo Mayawati was made the national president in 2003 after Kashiram’s health deteriorated. No one other than Mayawati has been made the party president even once in the last 21 years. Ahead of the meeting there was talk that his successor Akash Anand might rise in stature, with some even hoping that Mayawati might hand over the responsibility of the national president to Akash.
Elections were also discussed in the meeting
In the meeting held in Lucknow, the national executive also discussed the preparations for the assembly elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Maharashtra and brainstormed on the strategy for the by-elections to be held on 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati has made it clear for the first time that her party will field its own candidates on 10 seats in the Uttar Pradesh by-elections.
