Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav traveled in Mumbai local train

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav traveled in the lifeline local train of lakhs of Mumbaikars on Friday. During this journey, he was also seen talking to the passengers. The Railway Minister boarded the suburban train at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in South Mumbai and alighted at Bhandup station after traveling 27 km.

Railway officials said he had come to Mumbai for an award ceremony. Vaishnav boarded a second class coach of a slow local train bound for Ambernath and alighted at Bhandup station. During the interaction with the minister, the passengers demanded to increase the number of services and expressed concern over frequent disruptions in the train service.

Work is in progress on 12 projects in Mumbai city

Talking to reporters in the train, Union Minister Vaishnav said that work is underway on 12 projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region at a cost of Rs 16,240 crore. He said this would increase the length of track in the network by 301 km. Which will help improve passenger experience.

These projects include 5th and 6th lines between CSMT-Kurla, 6th line between Mumbai Central-Borivali, 4th line between Kalyan-Asangaon, 3rd and 4th lines between Kalyan-Badlapur, Nilaje-Copper double cord line, Naigaon-Juchandra and Airoli. – Kalyan Elevated Corridor.

Vaishnav said, ‘The completion of these projects will increase the lifeline capacity of Mumbai. More trains will run and the overall travel experience will be better. Vaishnav also inspected the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Central Railway General Manager Dharam Veer Meena and other senior officials accompanied Vaishnav during the train journey.

During the inspection, Vaishnav visited the suburban area. Spoke to station manager and staff on duty. Along with this, he took a selfie with the railway employees at Bhandup station. An official said that Vaishnavs are also scheduled to visit a Ganesha Mandal in Mumbai during the Ganesh festival.
