Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (June 10). She met Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. During this visit, Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi were also present. The Congress party has posted information about this meeting on its official X handle. During this meeting, Sheikh Hasina met Sonia Gandhi. After this, she also met brother-sister Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

Bangladesh is a friendly country of India. India has trade relations with this country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also maintained the place of this neighbouring country in his list of friendly countries. Therefore, Sheikh Hasina was invited to Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Sheikh Hasina arrived in Delhi on Saturday for Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Then on Sunday evening she attended Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony was attended by Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe as well as leaders from neighbouring countries and the Indian Ocean region.

Sheikh Hasina has a special attachment to India and especially the Gandhi family. There was a time when the life of Sheikh Hasina and her family was in danger. At that time it was only for a moment Prime Minister Indira Gandhi not only gave him shelter but also saved his life.

Sheikh Haseen has been living in Delhi for six years. From 1974 to 1981, her address was 56 Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar-3, Delhi. After this, she shifted to a house in Pandara Park, Delhi. The place where she lived in Lajpat Nagar at that time is now a commercial complex.

1975 coup in Bangladesh

Sheikh Hasina came to India at the age of 28. At that time, during the coup in Bangladesh, her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family were killed by the army. At the time of the incident, Sheikh Hasina was in Germany with her husband. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, popularly known as Banga Bandhu, and his entire family were killed on the same night in 1975. After this, the government of the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, gave shelter to Sheikh Hasina and her sister Rehana in Delhi. And she stayed in Delhi for six years.
