The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has come to power at the centre for the third consecutive time. Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third time yesterday. A huge crowd gathered at Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in Delhi. On Friday, Narendra Modi was elected the parliamentary leader of the NDA. On this occasion, all the constituent parties of the NDA were duly honoured. Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leaders of other parties gave their speeches. A total of 72 ministers were sworn in in Modi Government 3.0. This time, the BJP did not get an absolute majority on its own. Therefore, the constituent parties of the NDA will have to give them a bigger share in power. Earlier in two terms, the BJP had fielded NDA constituent parties for only one ministerial post. Because they had an absolute majority.

But now it is not so. In this Lok Sabha election, BJP had given the slogan of crossing 400. Actually, 240 of their MPs were elected. For majority, 272 is required. BJP is short of 32 MPs. In Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JDU, all of them are trusted by Modi 3.0 government. Even in the third term of Modi government, the picture of discontent among the constituent parties regarding the ministerial post still remains. An MP from Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, which has seven MPs, expressed his discontent.

What did the Shiv Sena MP say?

Not even 24 hours have passed since the NDA government was formed and the MPs from the Shinde faction have spoken their heart out. “Chief Minister Eknath Shinde faction was humiliated by giving them the post of Union Minister of State. Looking at the strike rate of our Shiv Sena, we should have been given the post of Cabinet Minister,” Shinde faction MP Shrirang Barane openly expressed his displeasure. “One MP each from other constituent parties was elected in the NDA, but they were given the post of Cabinet Minister. Then why did the BJP show so much hostility towards the Shinde faction? If this is the case then Ajit Pawar, who joined the Mahagathbandhan against the family, should have been given the ministerial post. Also, the BJP should have given this ministerial post to Satara MP Udayanraje Bhosale,” Barane said.
