Jackie Shroff was also a part of this film. He played the character of Chunnilal. Even though he was a part of this film. However, he was not the producers’ first choice for the role. The role was first offered to Manoj Bajpayee. Recently, Manoj has spoken about this.

Manoj has talked about Devdas in an interview given to Sushant Sinha. He said, “Yes, I was offered the role of Jackie Shroff in ‘Devdas’. But immediately I said ‘no’. I told Sanjay, ‘Sanjay, I always wanted to do Devdas.’ That film was a superhit, but I regret leaving that film.” He also said that he wanted to play the role of Devdas since his theater days.

However, these days Manoj is in the limelight because of his recently released film ‘Bhaiyyaji’. The film has been released in theaters on May 24. This is the 100th film of his career. However, this film could not do anything special at the box office. According to Sacknilk, the film earned only Rs 7.4 crore in 6 days.
