The ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is busy preparing for the upcoming assembly elections. Meanwhile, NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday said society does not like rifts in families. He has accepted his mistake. Ajit Pawar was referring to the electoral contest between his wife Sunetra and cousin Supriya Sule in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
This is the second time in the past one month that Pawar has admitted the mistake of pitting his wife against Sule. His statement comes after the NCP’s poor performance in the general elections, when it was contested for the first time after the party’s split. He said that society rejects family conflicts. Politics should not be allowed to enter the house.
‘Is it right to fight against your own father?’
Ajit Pawar said this while addressing a Jan Samman rally organized by NCP in Gadchiroli town on Friday. At the same time, he tried to stop party leader and Minister of State Dharmarao Baba Atram’s daughter Bhagyashree from joining the NCP (Sharad Pawar). There are speculations of a possible contest between Bhagyashree and his father in the upcoming assembly elections.
Meanwhile he asked the people, ‘No one loves a daughter more than her father. Despite marrying her in Belgaum, Atram stood by her in Gadchiroli and made her the president of the district council. Now Bhagyashree is ready to fight against his father. Is this true?’
‘Society doesn’t like it, I’ve felt it too’
Ajit Pawar said, ‘You should support your father and help him win, because only he has the ability and determination to develop the region. Society never accepts family breakup. Referring to the differences between Bhagyashree’s father and his political moves, he said it was like breaking up the family.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, ‘Society does not like this. I have experienced the same and accepted my mistake. Ajit Pawar-led NCP faced a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. The party contested four seats, including Baramati, of which it lost three, while the group led by Sharad Pawar won eight of the 10 seats.
