The results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared on Tuesday. Voters have sent many new and old celebrities to the Parliament as their representatives. For the first time, MPs Kangana Ranaut and Arun Govil will go to the Lok Sabha. This includes Hema Malini and Manoj Tiwari. Many famous personalities from the film industry were in the fray in the elections held for 543 Lok Sabha seats of the country.
Actress Kangana Ranaut contested the election from Mandi Lok Sabha constituency for the first time and won. She defeated state Congress chief Pratibha Singh’s son and state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh six times. Arun Govil, who became famous by playing the role of Ram in the serial Ramayana, was also fielded by the BJP. He also won from Meerut by defeating SP’s Sunita Verma.
Hema Malini MP for the third consecutive time
Famous Hindi film actress Hema Malini has been elected from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency for the third consecutive time. She has defeated Mukesh Dhangar of Congress. Apart from this, Bhojpuri actor and singer Manoj Tiwari has defeated Kanhaiya Kumar of Congress from North East Delhi.
Ravi Kishan is a MP for the second time
Famous Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan has also reached the Lok Sabha for the second time by defeating SP’s Kajal Nishad from Gorakhpur. BJP candidate Suresh Gopi, who came into politics from Kerala after acting, has won from Thrissur seat for the first time.
Trinamool Congress candidate and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has won from Asansol Lok Sabha seat in Bengal. He has defeated BJP’s SS Ahluwalia. Apart from this, film actor June Mallya, Sayani Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy, Rachna Banerjee and Dev Adhikari have won the Lok Sabha elections from Bengal on Trinamool Congress ticket.
Before this, film personalities like Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol and Munmun Sen have also entered politics once.
