Research has been done on the look of the character of ‘Chava’.

The look of all the characters in ‘Chava’ directed by Laxman Utekar is being liked a lot. The film is a biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Sambhaji Maharaj was a 17th century Maratha, Laxman Utekar and his team worked hard for almost a year to portray his character just right. The looks of the characters and their costumes have been properly researched to perfect them.

To create any historical story, a lot of research and investigation of its facts is necessary, a good example of which is Laxman Utekar’s ‘Chhava’. The film, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, began shooting in October last year. Before shooting, the film’s director and costume designer Sheetal Sharma researched each character’s look to perfect it.

Met many historians

Sources said that Sheetal Sharma and Laxman visited Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nashik, Paithan and several cities in Maharashtra for their research. According to a source, while making historical stories, some filmmakers color the characters’ clothes white or pastel, but Laxman found in his research that Indians prefer colors, not pastels. During the research, Sheetal and Lakshman visited different forts and visited many museums through which they discovered many other artifacts from the past. He also met many historians regarding this.

Vicki’s look was modeled after idols

Talking about Vicky Kaushal’s look, this look has been detailed from the many sculptures and statues of Sambhaji taken from Sambhajinagar, Pune and Nashik. Vicky Kaushal is seen sitting on a throne which is designed on a statue of Pune in the teaser of ‘Chaava’. All accessories are purchased from Kolhapur, Sawantwadi and Ratnagiri. Not only that, Bhawani’s production designers Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray made Sambhaji’s sword from the London museum.

Using 500 year old sarees

Now let’s talk about Rashmika’s look who is playing the role of Sambhaji’s wife Yesubai in the film. Special attention has been paid to their clothes and ornaments. The outfits Rashmika wears in the film are Paithan and Narayanpeth sarees. However, many of the old garments were very difficult to find, for which the design team went to museums and took photographs of the garments, which were then recreated by weavers. A border of 500-year-old sarees was added. Rashmika is wearing a Lakshmi necklace with a nose ring like the picture seen in the museum.
