According to a recent report by Economic Times, Apple’s local ecosystem can generate over 600,000 jobs in India. According to the report, by the end of the current financial year, Apple can generate around 200,000 direct jobs. Over 70 percent of this workforce will be women. According to the report, for every direct job, at least three indirect jobs will be created. This means that 5 to 6 lakh new jobs are likely to be created.

This report has given a boost to all those news reports that Apple is working on increasing its manufacturing capacity in India. According to Bloomberg News, the company has started a training program for thousands of employees at its Tamil Nadu factory. In fact, the company aims to have the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max editions ready as close to their global launch date as possible. Apart from this, there are indications that Apple is planning to assemble its high-end Pro and Pro Max models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series in India for the first time. This production will reportedly be done through Apple’s partner Foxconn Technology Group at its Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
