In Bihar’s capital Patna, bulldozers will be used on buildings that are obstructing the construction of the metro rail project. Preparations have been made by the district administration for this. Patna DM has ordered to demolish the houses which are obstructing the metro rail project. Currently, the construction of two corridors of the rail project is going on at a fast pace. Patna Metro Rail is targeted to start operations by April 2026.
Buildings and other structures causing obstruction in Patna Metro Rail Depot have been identified. These will soon be demolished using bulldozers. Patna DM Chandrasekhar Singh has taken a strict stand. He held a meeting with the Land Acquisition Officer and Metro officials and ordered the demolition of 33 houses.
33 houses will be demolished with bulldozers
Metro rail operations in capital Patna are targeted to start by April 2026. In the Patna Metro Rail project, the first corridor will be operational from Patliputra Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakdi, 6.5 km long. The corridor will have five elevated metro stations. During the construction of metro rail depot on Patna-Gaya road, 37 houses were becoming a hindrance. These were marked for demolition. Out of which 4 houses were demolished. Due to public uproar, the work of the rest of the houses was stopped. Now the District Magistrate has given strict orders to demolish the remaining 33 houses soon.
The Radhakrishna temple will be removed
People whose houses are to be demolished say that they have not received compensation despite applying. While pleading, he says that they should be settled somewhere before displacing them.
