Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has lashed out at the state government and the BJP over Mangesh Yadav’s encounter in UP’s Sultanpur. The former Congress president said that laws and constitutions are being violated in BJP-ruled states. Mangesh Yadav’s encounter in Sultanpur has once again proved that BJP does not believe in the law. He has also demanded an impartial inquiry into all the suspicious encounters in Uttar Pradesh.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi posted on social media on Saturday evening and further said that the tears of Mangesh’s family are asking a question to the whole country that who will live and who will not, the court or the police will decide? Rules are being broken by those who are responsible for enforcing them. Blood stains on the uniform should be clean.

‘STF is being used like a gang’

Questioning the UP STF, the Leader of Opposition said that this professional force is being used like a criminal gang in the BJP government. The central government’s silence on such incidents is their clear explanation of this ‘wholesale policy’. Dozens of UP STF encounters are under question.

He asked whether any action has been taken against any of those officials till date. After all, who is saving them and why is he saving them? Saluting the Constitution on camera when your own governments are openly flouting it is just hypocrisy.

The STF encounter took place on 5th September

Mangesh Yadav, involved in the robbery case of a bullion dealer in Sultanpur, was killed by the UP STF on September 5 in an encounter with a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Mangesh Yadav was a resident of Jaunpur. The Samajwadi Party questioned the encounter and said it was Mangesh Yadav, hence the encounter.

Akhilesh Yadav also opposed the encounter

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav hit out at the UP government, saying it appears the ruling party had deep connections with those involved in the Sultanpur robbery, which is why the prime accused was approached and surrendered before the fake encounter. Some people were shot in the leg just for showing off. Mangesh Yadav’s encounter was based on his caste.

A magisterial inquiry into the encounter was ordered on Saturday amid accusations from opposition forces. On the order of Sultanpur DM, Lambhua SDM Vidushi Singh has been assigned to investigate the matter.
