Khagen Murmu won the Lok Sabha election from Malda North.
Trinamool Congress made a strong performance in the West Bengal Lok Sabha elections. Mamata Banerjee’s party won 29 of the 42 seats in the state. This time too, Mamata Banerjee was seen trying her best in the election. In Bengal, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC contested the election alone. Looking at the results now, it is being said that the support that Mamata had in the assembly is still intact. TMC certainly performed strongly in the state, but could not win in Malda North. Khagen Murmu of Bharatiya Janata Party has hoisted the flag of victory for the second time in this seat.
Khagen Murmu won the election from this seat for the second time in a row. This time Khagen Murmu has defeated Trinamool Congress candidate Prasoon Banerjee by a margin of 77 thousand 708 votes. He got 5 lakh 27 thousand 23 votes in this election, while TMC’s Prasoon Banerjee got only 4 lakh 49 thousand 315 votes and finished second. Congress candidate Alam Mustaq put up a good fight from here, but he could not cross 3 lakh 84 thousand 764 votes. He finished third. Polling for the Malda North Lok Sabha seat in the third phase was held on May 7. 76.03 percent voting was done on this seat.
Khagen Murmu also won in 2019
In the 2019 election, Khagenu Murmu got 5 lakh 9 thousand votes and won the election by 84 thousand 288 votes. Last time TMC’s Mausam Noor contested from here and got 4 lakh 25 thousand votes. Congress’s Ishakhan Chaudhary stood third here and could get only 3 lakh 5 thousand votes.
Family of Khagen Murmu
Khagen Murmu is not only a politician but also a farmer. He was born on 2 February 1960 in Sheikhpara, Malda, West Bengal. His father was Jola Murmu and mother Sakro Hamborn. Khagen married Manju Kisku on 10 May 1985. Khagen and Manju have four children, three sons and one daughter.
Khagen Murmu has movable and immovable assets worth 1 crore 35 lakh 90 thousand 846 rupees. He has stated in his election affidavit that he also has a loan of 2 lakh 34 thousand 412 rupees. He received his BA degree from Magadha University in 1989. Seven criminal cases have been registered against Murmu.
