The CBI has arrested former principal Sandeep Ghosh and Tala police station SHO Abhijit Mandal in connection with the rape and murder of a lady doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The remand copy of the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and SHO of Tala police station during the CBI interrogation has revealed important details. This revelation has given the CBI an indication that Sandeep Ghosh was acting on someone’s instructions. The CBI has expressed its apprehension of a larger conspiracy behind the rape and murder.
Investigating agency CBI confronted Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal with CDR details. He was also interrogated by sitting him in front of some eyewitnesses.
During the investigation CCTV footage of the accused Abhijit Mandal Tala police station came across, some more CCTV footage has come across, which needs to be interrogated.

During the investigation, some suspicious mobile numbers were revealed
The information of some suspicious mobile numbers has come out from the CDR, about which the accused will be interrogated. The CSFL has recovered some CCTV footage, which recorded the movement of some of the suspects in the medical college during and before the incident, for which the accused are being interrogated.
CBI sources say Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal deliberately cremated the body early, while the victim’s family wants a second post-mortem.
The police were negligent for two days in recovering the clothes which the accused Sanjay Roy was wearing at the time of the incident, even though the accused Sanjay Roy was identified soon after the incident.
Cases not registered under appropriate sections
Sandeep Ghosh was not booked under the appropriate sections, which led the CBI to suspect that Sandeep Ghosh was acting on the instructions of some others, i.e. he was part of a larger conspiracy.
Meanwhile, former OC of Tala police station Abhijit Mandal has been suspended by the state government this time. Abhijeet was arrested by the CBI last Saturday. He is currently in CBI custody.
However, a section of the administration claims that this is a routine step. Because if a government servant is arrested and kept in the custody of the investigating agency for more than 48 hours, he has to be suspended as per the rules. It may be noted that the Central Investigation Agency suspects that the former OC of Tala police station is behind the destruction of evidence in the RG rape and murder case.
