The results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 were declared two days ago. The grand alliance suffered a crushing defeat in Maharashtra. The Maha Vikas Aghadi won 30 seats. The grand alliance had to be content with only 17 seats. In this election, the prestige of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray was at stake. There was a Sena vs Sena contest in Mumbai as well as some constituencies of the state. In Mumbai, Maviya won four seats and Mahayuti won two seats. Mumbai is considered the stronghold of the Thackeray group. The Thackeray group won the seats of South Mumbai, South Central Mumbai and North East Mumbai. Only in North West Mumbai, Ravindra Waikar of the Shinde faction was elected by just 48 votes. Although the Thackeray group has retained its dominance by winning three seats in Mumbai, the low vote margin will raise concerns.

Worli is the constituency of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray. Worli constituency falls in South Mumbai, from where Thackeray faction’s Arvind Sawant won the election. In South Mumbai, Thackeray group’s Arvind Sawant was pitted against Shinde group’s Yamini Jadhav. Arvind Sawant has been an MP for the last two times. Yamini Jadhav is an MLA from Byculla. Compared to Sawant, Yamini Jadhav was not a familiar face in the constituency. Arvind Sawant won. But he did not get much majority from Worli. This is a matter of concern.

It is clear that BJP will fight with full force in Worli

After the results of Lok Sabha elections, BJP has started a banner war in Worli. BJP has put up banners thanking the voters. Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Arvind Sawant from Worli got 64 thousand votes, while BJP Sena’s Yamini Jadhav got 58 thousand votes. Arvind Sawant got a lead of only 6715 votes from Worli. Considering the assembly elections to be held in six months, this is a matter of concern for the Thackeray group. It is written on the banners put up by BJP that they will be forced to fill the Lok Sabha assembly. It is clear from this banner that BJP will come out with full force to conquer the stronghold of Worli.
