Abhishek Banerjee won the Lok Sabha elections from Diamond Harbour
Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth icon Abhishek Banerjee has once again managed to register a bumper victory from his traditional Lok Sabha seat Diamond Harbour. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee has defeated Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Abhijit Das (Bobby) in this election by a huge margin of 7 lakh 10 thousand 930 votes. This time, Abhishek Banerjee got 10 lakh 48 thousand 230 votes, while BJP’s Abhijit Das, who came second, got only 3 lakh 37 thousand 300 votes. Pratik ur Rehman of CPI(M) was also contesting on this seat. He got 86 thousand 953 votes.
Abhishek Banerjee entered politics in the year 2011. As soon as he joined the TMC, he contested the assembly elections and won by a landslide. That same year, the TMC demolished the Left’s 34-year-old stronghold in West Bengal. After this victory, the TMC rewarded him by making him the national president of the party’s youth brigade.
Abhishek Banerjee studied at New Nalanda High School and MP Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School in Kolkata. Later he came to Delhi for higher education. Here he did his BBA and MBA in Human Resource and Management from IIPM. After completing his degree in 2009, he returned to Kolkata and married Rujira from Thailand on 24 February 2012. The TMC fielded him for the first time from the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2014 elections, Abhishek Banerjee once again defeated the Communist Party of India candidate by a large margin. After this victory, he became the youngest MP of Lok Sabha. During this tenure he did a lot to motivate the youth towards sports. In 2019 also TMC gave him ticket from Diamond Harbor seat. In this election also he won with a margin of 3 lakh 20 thousand 594 votes. Abhishek Banerjee’s name also came up in the Devashish murder case.
The name has come up in the coal smuggling case
In 2015, a man named Debashish Acharya slapped him. Debashish was also arrested in this case. Although Abhishek Banerjee later forgave him, when Debashish joined the BJP in 2020, he was murdered under suspicious circumstances the very next year. It is alleged that Devashish was killed by his party goons on the direction of Abhishek Banerjee. Apart from this, Abhishek Banerjee was also accused of smuggling coal in 2021. ED has also questioned him several times in this matter.
