A big relief for SP leader Azam Khan, the court acquitted him in the Dungarpur case

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan got a big relief on Monday. Rampur court has acquitted him in Dungarpur case. Azam Khan appeared in the case through video conferencing. However, Azam Khan has to remain in jail for now. In fact, he was also convicted in two other cases, which he is serving. However, a bail appeal has been filed on behalf of the SP leader.

In 2019, people living in Dungarpur Colony filed 12 cases against SP leader Azam Khan in Ganj Police Station under various sections including robbery, theft, assault, extortion, among others, in the name of vacating the colony, out of which four cases have been adjudicated. There are cases. SP leaders have been acquitted in two cases, while they have been found guilty in two cases.

SP leader Azam Khan, his close aide Fasahat Ali Khan Shanu, Imran, Ikram, Chavez Khan, contractor Barkat Ali were made accused in this case. All these accused have now been acquitted in this case. Azam Khan’s lawyer Zubair Khan said that petitions have been filed against the case in which Azam Khan has been convicted and the court is currently on vacation. He said that Azam Khan will remain in jail until the court will fix the hearing date after the holidays.

Azam Khan has been punished in these two cases

In March this year, a Rampur MP-legislative court convicted him in a fourth case related to the demolition of houses in the Dungarpur Asra housing scheme colony in 2016. At that time there was a SP government in the state. Khan has been sentenced to seven years in prison on January 31, 2024 in another case related to the same incident. After the BJP came to power in the state in 2017, cases were registered against him and others in 2019 and he has been on trial for the past four years. This was the third case since July 2023 in which Khan was convicted. Earlier, on July 15, 2023, the court sentenced him to two years in prison in the inflammatory speech case. He is currently lodged in Sitapur Jail.
