Every day, hundreds of people step into Mumbai, the city of dreams, with the desire to become a hero. However, there are those among them who achieve their destination, who do not give up even after facing many rejections, if one path is closed they keep trying by finding another path. Amrish Puri is one such person, who faced rejection but never gave up. There was a time when he was rejected from the role of the hero, but he created such magic with his outstanding acting that he overshadowed even the hero by becoming the villain.

Amrish Puri’s birth anniversary is on 22nd June. On this occasion, we tell you the story of when he auditioned for the role of a hero at the age of 22, but was rejected citing his face. Wanted to be a hero, became a villain

It is said that no one can avoid what is written in destiny. Amrish wanted to be a hero from the very beginning, but fate did not allow it and he became a villain. In 1954, he auditioned for the role of a hero, at which time the producer rejected him saying he had a stone face.

Amrish Puri was disappointed by the rejection, but then turned his attention to theatre. After showing his talent there, he got his first break in Bollywood in 1970. There was a film called ‘Prem Pujari’, in which he was seen in a small role. In 1980, a film called ‘Hum Panch’ was released. He came into the public eye with this film. In all the roles he has done since then, he has always looked heavy on the screen.

Even though he didn’t become Heera, he was so impressive in the villain role that he emerged as the biggest villain in Bollywood. He is also called the costliest villain of Bollywood. If reports are to be believed, he used to charge Rs 1 crore as a fee in his time. He worked in films for almost 30 years. He acted in more than 400 films in his career.
