CM Mamata Banerjee distributing relief materials to flood victims
Mamata Banerjee on WB Flood: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the flood affected area on Monday. Meanwhile, he has also distributed relief materials to help the flood victims. CM Mamata chaired an administrative review meeting to assess the flood situation in East Burdwan. He also said that Bengal is sinking. But the people of Union Jal Shakti Ministry are not doing anything.
CM Mamata Banerjee alleged that the West Bengal delegation had approached the Ministry of Water Power and the Ministry of Power regarding the flood situation. But these people are not doing anything and Bengal is sinking. He said that you can fight any political battle with us. But by releasing water like this you are deliberately killing people.
CM Mamata termed the flood as a man-made calamity
CM Mamata Banerjee said that DVC is not doing any work, dredging is not being done… Farmers’ crops are getting destroyed. He said, ‘We are with the farmers, a review meeting has been held today. Government will give full money to farmers under crop insurance scheme. We have asked to survey the rural roads. He said that the relief work for the flood affected people will continue.
At the same time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also posted on Twitter about her visit to the flood-hit area. In which he described the flood as man-made rather than natural calamity. He wrote – ‘I distributed relief materials to help the victims of man-made floods in the area. I expressed my concern for their well-being and assured people of my continued support.
Along with this, he has instructed the government officials to assess the damage caused due to the flood. He said, ‘I have instructed all government officials to be present at the spot. Assess the extent of damage individually and take immediate steps to alleviate the suffering of those affected. A day before this, CM Mamata Banerjee had written a letter to the Prime Minister regarding the floods.
Water was released from reservoirs without consulting the government
This was the second letter written by Mamata Banerjee to PM Modi on Sunday. In the letter, he alleged that the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) released water from its reservoirs without consulting his government, inundating many districts of the state. He wrote, ‘I respectfully reject the contention of the Union Water Power Minister that the water was released with the connivance and cooperation of the Damodar Valley Reservoir Management Committee, including discussions with representatives of the West Bengal Government.

He alleged that, ‘representatives of the Central Water Commission, which comes under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, take all important decisions unilaterally without consensus.’ Mamata claimed that sometimes water is released without any intimation to the state government. The opinion of his government is not respected.
