The tender process for this is going to start soon. This scheme is now going to start from Chhattisgarh. If the plan is successful, such restaurants can be started in other parts of the country as well.
According to railway officials, the restaurant will be opened in the Kandam coach standing on the railway premises. Such coaches are currently at Raipur and Durg railway stations. Coaches stationed at these two stations will be deployed to open the restaurant at a place where people can easily reach. In all these coaches, the chairs will be arranged as if they were berths and the people coming here can have the experience of eating and drinking while sitting in the train.
A restaurant in a coach is a unique concept
According to railway officials, a section of this coach will also have an exhibition and a stall telling the history of the railway. Along with this, people coming here can easily see and understand the history of railways and its progress. According to Raipur Division Senior DCM Awadhesh Kumar, the concept of restaurants in coaches is slightly different, but fun. Currently these coaches will be leased for 10 years.
