Accused in police custody
These days, the morale of criminals in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, is at an all-time high. Forget about common people, criminals have become so fearless that they are no longer afraid to rob even police officers. Recently criminals targeted an officer posted at Ranchi CID. The bike-riding criminals fled after looting a gold chain from DSP Sarita Murmu. However, the police have arrested the criminals.
The incident of robbery with the officer took place on June 25. DSP Sarita was passing near Ranchi’s Kachari Chowk. Meanwhile, the criminals on bike number two robbed the gold chain from his neck and escaped. The SP filed a complaint in Kotwali police station regarding this.
The SIT team nabbed the culprits
On behalf of Ranchi City SP Rajkumar Mehta, a SIT team headed by DSP Prakash Soya was formed to nab the culprits. The SIT team examined the CCTV cameras installed around the incident site. The criminals were identified based on the footage. After which the police arrested four accused. Two of them were involved in the chain robbery, while the other two accused are associated with jewelery shops that were involved in the chain’s buying and selling.
During interrogation the criminals said
The two criminals who committed the robbery have been identified as Farhan Ansari and Mohammad Zahid. Both are residents of Ranchi. The other two include Rajesh Soni and Mukesh Kumar. During interrogation by the SIT team, Farhan Ansari and Mohammad Zahid Khan said that they sold the gold chain to Ajay Verma, Mukesh Kumar and Rajesh Soni, owners of Vijay Jewellers, located in Kanta Toli, Ranchi.
Earlier last month, on June 28, intrepid criminals barged into a shop called DP Jewellers, located near Birsa Chowk in Ranchi, and looted jewelery worth around Rs 1.4 crore.
