The reverberations of Guldar’s sustained attacks on farm laborers in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor have finally reached the Yogi government. On the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath, Forest Minister of UP Dr. Arun Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary Forest and Climate Change Manoj Singh, Principal Conservator of Forests Vijay Singh along with Conservator of Forests Ramesh Chandra, DFO Bijnoor Gyan Singh and all forest department officials chalked out a strategy to control Guldar and protect the public from them. .
Guldar has attacked farm laborers working in the fields more than 150 times in the last one year in Bijnor district. More than 40 people have died in these attacks. At the same time, more than 100 people have been seriously injured. In the last one month, five people have been killed in attacks by gangsters. At the same time, the government has taken the problem seriously after these attacks.
Guldars camped in sugarcane fields
The number of Baudars in the fields of Bijnor is constantly increasing. According to forest department records, more than 500 Guldars have set up permanent camps in sugarcane fields. Forest Minister Dr. Arun Saxena emphasized on awareness of the common people to avoid boulevard attack in Bijnor saying that this includes Forest Department, Police Department, Revenue Department, Panchayat Raj Department, Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Health Department. It requires the cooperation and participation of everyone including the officers and employees of the Department and Animal Husbandry Department.

Education Department will sensitize school children, children will explain to their families. Panchayat Raj Department to ban defecation in fields. Anganwadi and health department staff will conduct village-to-village awareness campaign. Besides, in areas where buzzards are prevalent, the forest department will set up trap cages and then catch the buzzards and release them in the forest. The Health Department and the Animal Husbandry Department have been entrusted with the responsibility of providing proper treatment to humans and pets injured in Guldar attacks.
The Forest Minister will propose to increase the amount of compensation
The forest minister also assured to increase the compensation amount to the Guldar attack victims and said that a proposal will be made in the Cabinet meeting to increase the compensation amount from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Principal Secretary, Department of Forest and Climate Change, while ordering the forest department to increase the number of additional staff and cages for ‘Operation Guldar’, said that the department’s staff are working day and night to get rid of the problem. Appealed to form groups and go to the fields
DFO Bijnoor Gyan Singh appealed to the farmers to go to the fields in groups, saying that the villagers shouted ‘hanka’ and played songs, bhajans etc. on their mobiles. Go to work in the fields only after drumming. Do not take small children and the elderly to the farm. Do not work sitting in the field for long periods of time. Also keep adequate lighting while working at night.
