There is a discussion that there are many people who lost the Lok Sabha or did not get a chance to be elected to the Legislative Council. In the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, the opposition as well as the ruling party can come up with someone’s name. After the Lok Sabha elections, elections will be held for 11 seats of the Legislative Council. In this, there is talk of rehabilitation of the candidates who lost in the Lok Sabha or did not get a chance.

Pankaja Munde, Raosaheb Danve from BJP, Bhavana Gawli from Shiv Sena Shinde faction, Rajesh Vitekkar from Ajit Pawar faction, Vinayak Raut from Thackeray faction are in discussion.

Among the names that are coming forward from the BJP, there is a discussion that in the upcoming assembly, a strategy will be made by giving opportunity to the leaders of all the three groups – Maratha-Dhangar-OBC.

The names being discussed from the BJP include Pankaja Munde, Harshvardhan Patil, Raosaheb Danve, Mahadev Jankar, Parinay Phuke, Sudhakar Kovale, Yogesh Tilekar, Nilay Naik, Chitra Wagh, Madhavi Naik and Vishwas Pathak.

Rajesh Vitekkar and Sanjay Daund from Ajit Pawar group, Bhavana Gawli and Neelam Gorha from Shinde group, Jayant Patil of Shekap from Sharad Pawar group, Vinayak Raut, Milind Narvekar and Varun Sardesai from Thackeray group and Wajahat Mirza, Pragya Satav, Naseem Khan, Manikrao Thackeray and Sandhya from Congress have been named.

The tenure of only 11 MLAs of the Legislative Council will end next month. The election schedule for 11 seats has also been announced. Voting will take place on July 12 and the picture of the result will be clear on the same day.

If we look at the strength of MLAs, BJP is guaranteed to get 5 out of 11 members. According to the strength of numbers, Shinde’s Shiv Sena had 2 members and Ajit Dad’s NCP had 2 members. Whereas Maviya has the strength of 2 MLAs. But if Maviya gives a third candidate, then there can be a tug of war for the 11th seat. Earlier there was a discussion that BJP will rehabilitate Pankaja Munde politically 4 to 5 times.

In 2020, Pankaja Munde’s name was in discussion from BJP for Rajya Sabha.. but in her place Bhagwat Karad, Ramdas Athawale and Udayanraje Bhosale went to Rajya Sabha.

Later, Pankaja Munde’s name remained in discussion for the Legislative Council only for 2020. But Ranjitsinh Mohite-Patil, Gopichand Padalkar, Ramesh Karad and Praveen Datke got the opportunity from BJP. At that time, Pankaja Munde’s supporters had started a round of protests and resignations.

In 2022, Pankaj’s name came into discussion again. But Uma Khapre, Shrikant Bhartiya, Praveen Darekar, Prasad Lad and Ram Shinde went to the Legislative Council from BJP. And this time too, Pankaja Munde’s name came up among the Rajya Sabha candidates in 2024. But Ashok Chavan, Ajit Gopachhade and Medha Kulkarni came forward. Pankaja Munde’s name remained in discussion throughout this time, but later it lagged behind. Therefore, it will be important to see what happens this year.
