After the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA government has been formed in the country. There is curiosity about who will be the new Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. BJP decided to make Om Birla the Speaker again. So to challenge the government, Congress also declared K. Suresh as its candidate. In such a situation, it is clear that there will be an election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. However, the role of Trinamool Congress’s Mamta Banerjee will be important in this election. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee expressed displeasure over this decision of Congress and criticized that Congress took a unilateral decision.

This time the Bharatiya Janata Party did not get a full majority in the Lok Sabha. Therefore, the BJP is going to depend on its allies. With the help of allies, the BJP formed the government at the center for the third time in a row. Apart from small parties, Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United (JDU) and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s party Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have come to power. In such a situation, Congress has become the largest party by getting the maximum number of seats in the India Alliance of opposition parties. After this, Trinamool Congress has become the fourth largest party by getting 29 seats.

Trinamool Congress broke away from Bharat Aghadi and contested the elections in West Bengal on its own. However, they have supported India Alliance from outside. However, Trinamool Congress leaders are upset that Congress did not discuss the candidate for the post of Speaker in the Lok Sabha. Expressing displeasure, they said that it is unfortunate that Congress has taken a unilateral decision in this matter.

After the displeasure of Trinamool MPs, BJP leader and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh discussed with West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee over the phone. Rajnath Singh has sought support from Trinamool Congress MPs for NDA’s presidential candidate Om Birla. Mamata has not yet taken any decision on the support sought by Rajnath Singh. Therefore, there is a discussion on who the Trinamool MPs will vote for in the elections to be held on June 26.
