In Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, politics is going on over Baba Mahakal’s royal ride. This whole controversy is about the word ‘Royal’. Some saints and BJP leaders say that the word Shahi is Islamic. In its place should be the words ‘divine and glorious’. In this regard, the Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Mohan Yadav, has been demanded to think about removing the ‘shahi’. State Endowments and Culture Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi even said that he will talk to the Chief Minister about this.
Baba Mahakal’s royal procession has been taking place in Ujjain for centuries. People from home and abroad come to participate in this ride, but now there is a problem with the word ‘royal’. Scholarly devotees of Ujjain have expressed their anger by objecting to the ride being called ‘Shahi’ with the word ‘Islamic’. Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav also sought leadership for change. Now BJP state spokesperson and former Mandsaur MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia has also posted on his ‘X’ account.
Who raised the demand to change the word ‘Royal’?
Let us tell you that Bhagwacharya Shri Bhimashankar Ji Shastri raised this demand in the Dharma Sabha. He suggested calling the ride a ‘divine and majestic’ ride instead of ‘royal’. When this demand of Bhagwacharya Shri Bhimashankar Ji Shastri was discussed with Endowments and Culture Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, he said that this demand has reached us. We will talk to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav about changing this word. We will change if necessary. Even words symbolizing slavery are constantly changing in MP.
If BJP gets its way, change God’s name too: Congress
When the word ‘royal’ was discussed with Congress leader Mukesh Nayak, he said it was an unnecessary controversy. BJP has no other work. Change the name of the city, change the name of the station and now change the name of the ‘royal’ ride, this is not their business, otherwise these people should change the name of God too. Let us tell you that there is continuous politics regarding name change in MP. The government has changed the names of roads, buildings and cities. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see what is the government’s stance on Baba Mahakal’s ‘royal’ ride.
