Why Shivdeep Lande’s political landing is not easy?

Shivdeep Lande, Inspector General of Purnia range and famous IPS officer of Bihar, is quitting the police service. Announcing his resignation on Thursday, Lande said he wanted to stay and work in Bihar. It is being said about Lande that he may enter politics. However, he has said that I am not going to join any political party now.

A native of Maharashtra, Shivdeep Vamanrao Lande is a 2006 batch IPS officer. Lande has been the police captain of districts like Patna and Rohtas.

Why is there talk of Lande going into politics?

1. Shivdeep Lande’s father-in-law Vijay Shivtare is considered among the powerful NDA leaders in Maharashtra. Shivtar has also been a minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government. Currently he is involved in Eknath Shinde’s party.

2. As Shivdeep Lande has resigned and said that he will stay and work in Bihar. Due to this, speculations about his entry into politics are rife. Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Bihar at the end of 2025.

Is the road to politics easy for Lande?

More debate than whether IPS quitter Shivdeep Lande will enter politics or not is whether the political path in Bihar is easy for him?

Before Lande, many people in Bihar entered the political arena wearing black khadi, but only a few of them achieved political success.

In such a situation, how easy this path would be for Lande, let us try to understand it in 3 points.

15 officials did not even get tickets. In Bihar in the last 5 years, many officers left Khaki and joined politics. There were 5 of them who did not get tickets. The first name in this is that of former DGP Gupteshwar Pandey. In 2019, Pandey quit his job and joined the JDU to contest from the Buxar seat, but did not get a ticket.

Former DGP Karuna Sagar also joined RJD to contest from Jehanabad, but RJD did not give him ticket. Similarly, Brij Kishor, an IPS officer in Tamil Nadu, also joined the Congress before the Lok Sabha. He was hoping to get a ticket from Samastipur, but the party did not.

Similarly, Anand Mishra, who had been a police officer in Assam, also resigned to contest from Buxar. He wanted a ticket from BJP but did not get it at the last minute. Currently, Mishra is doing politics in association with Jansuraj.

There has also been a game with former IPS Lalan Ji. He joined Nitish Kumar’s party wanting a ticket from Gopalganj but did not get a ticket. Currently Lalanji is working with Prashant Kishore.

2. Difficulty in finding a safe seat- Shivdeep Lande is a resident of Akola, Maharashtra. In such a situation, it is not easy for him to do politics in Bihar. George Fernandez from Maharashtra certainly came to Bihar and did politics, but Fernandez’s political personality and his time were different.

Currently, finding a safe seat for Lande is not easy. Shivdeep Lande has worked in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Rohtas and Purnia, but the politics of all four districts is not suitable for Lande.

It is being said that due to this, Shivdeep Lande has put a brake on the discussion of joining politics.

3. Poor Connectivity on Famous Faces- Shivdeep Lande came into the limelight due to his work as SP, which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar commonly called printing disease. Lande was also removed several times for this reason. At one point Lande, upset with his shunting, even went to his home state of Maharashtra.

It is being said that while Shivdeep Lande was in the headlines while serving as IPS, he has neither the political touch nor the public touch in Bihar.

Because of this future politics is not easy for them.

Now know about Shivdeep Lande

Born in 1978, Shivdeep Lande did his initial studies in Maharashtra. After studying engineering from Sant Gajanan Madhav College, Shegaon, Buldhana, he joined the IRS. He was also selected for IPS during his training in 2006.

After this he was appointed in Bihar cadre. He got his first posting in Patna, where he stayed in many news. Just 10 days ago, the Bihar government transferred him from Tirhut and posted him as the IG of Purnia range.
