In Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district, a man tried to take away an idol of the serpent deity installed in a temple. The youth believed that he would find an idol of the serpent god installed in his village. So that he does not have to go to the neighboring village every day to visit the snake deity. The youth started to take the idol out of the temple but left the idol on the way. After which people are upset. Some people are calling this theft. But what this guy did shocked everyone. Actually this incident is from Gorkhar village of Betul district.
Gorkhar village in Betul district has an ancient temple of Naga deity, which has a statue of the Naga deity made of sandstone. On Friday night, Kamlesh Dhote, who lives in a neighboring village, tried to uproot the statue and take it with him. When people asked the youth about the statue and the reason for its removal, he said that he wanted to install the statue in his village. So that he does not have to go to another village for darshan every day.
The police detained the youth
A young man named Kamlesh left the idol on the road instead of taking it to the village. Discontent spread among the people when the villagers saw the idol of the serpent god on the roadside in the morning. The police were called and Betul Bazar police station took Kamlesh into custody and also asked the villagers to file a complaint.
However, the villagers gave Kamlesh a chance to apologise. The people made a condition that he would not be handed over to the police if he carried the idol back to the temple on his shoulders and re-consecrated the idol at his own expense on Sunday. A video of the incident is going viral on social media, in which a person is seen carrying the idol on his shoulder.
The villagers severely punished the youth
Kamlesh listened to the people and carried the idol back to the temple on his shoulders. After this the villagers did not file a police complaint against him. It is being said that Kamlesh is a drunkard, so the villagers did not punish him severely.
Villager Vicky Lillore says that Kamlesh Dhote is a resident of Bagoli village. He tried to uproot the idol of Naga deity from our village temple and take it to his village. But when the villagers asked about this, he left the statue on the roadside. After this, as a punishment, the villagers made him carry the idol on his shoulders to the temple and anoint the idol at his own expense.
