17 districts of Uttar Pradesh are currently in the grip of floods. The flood situation is severe in some districts while the flood waters have started receding in some districts. Rivers Rapti, Sharda, Gandak, Ghaghra, Sarayu, Ramganga and Ganges flowed. The situation in Ballia has become such that the Saryu river is encircling people’s houses. Due to which people are now being forced to demolish their houses. Here people are running bulldozers on their houses.
They are demolishing houses themselves and taking bricks and other things to other places. People are taking bricks with them so that they can be used to build houses elsewhere. This scene is being seen in Tikulia and Bhojpurwa villages under Bansdih tehsil. Due to Sarayu river, the condition of the people here has become miserable. Many houses have been submerged in water. Similarly, people have started demolishing their own houses to prevent other houses from being washed away.
Ballia District Magistrate Praveen Kumar Lakshkar said that accommodation arrangements are being made for all the families leaving here. Whatever damage has been done to them will be investigated and a report will be sent to the government. So that we can get compensation for the loss. He said that in the report prepared by the accountant, 13 houses have been demolished so far.

Many villagers living in Bhojpurwa and Tikulia said that the administration makes several claims regarding flood relief. But when the time comes, all claims of the administration fail. At present we are merging into Sarayu river. Many people’s houses have been washed away. Now we keep our things with relatives and neighbors. They are demolishing the house with their own hands. So bricks and stones can be useful. Administration people are coming and giving assurances, but we have not got any relief yet. District administration is providing air-air assurance.
