Who will be the next CM of Delhi?

After coming out of Tihar Jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister while addressing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers. He said that I am resigning because I was accused of corruption. I am ready for the ordeal. It was also said that even Manish Sisodia will not become the Chief Minister, in such a situation the question arises as to who will have power in Delhi.

Announcing his resignation as Chief Minister two days later, Arvind Kejriwal said, “If you think I am honest, vote for me and I will sit on the Chief Minister’s chair only when you win. I am resigning because I am accused of corruption. He further said, “Someone from Aam Aadmi Party will become Chief Minister. A meeting of the MLA will be held to elect the Chief Minister.

Clarifying the position regarding the next chief minister after the resignation, Kejriwal said, “I and Manish Sisodia are now going to the people’s court. If we are honest then vote, else don’t vote. He made it clear that even Manish Sisodia will not become the Chief Minister. Now the question is who will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi.

Who is the strong contender for the post of Chief Minister?

Arvind Kejriwal will resign as Chief Minister after 2 days now. In such a situation, Atishi, the Education Minister of Delhi, is being seen as the biggest contender for the post of Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi is counted among CM Kejriwal’s most trusted leaders. Kejriwal trusts him a lot. When Manish Sisodia went to jail in the Delhi Excise Policy case, he was replaced by the Education Department. He also presented the budget of Delhi.

Not only this, Kejriwal mentioned Atishi’s name in his speech on August 15 before talking about his resignation. He said, “During my stay in Tihar, I wrote to the LG that Atishi will hoist the flag on Independence Day on August 15. But the letter was returned with a warning that visits to the family would be cut off if the letter was written again.

Apart from Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj is also in the race for the post of CM. He has long been associated with Aam Aadmi Party. Represents the Greater Kailash constituency in the Delhi Assembly. Saurabh was made the Chairman of Delhi Jal Board and Minister for Health, Urban Development and Water from 9 March 2023. He is also the spokesman of the party and represents the party in critical situations. Due to his restrained demeanor, he is considered among the top contenders for the CM post.

Kailash Gehlot is also the third big name in the race for the CM post. He is the Transport and Environment Minister of Delhi. He represents Najafgarh Assembly seat in New Delhi.
