The pictures that have emerged from UP’s Hathras, 146 km from Delhi, are heart-wrenching. The news that came was embarrassing and filled with hundreds of questions. There is pain, suffering, mismanagement, chaos and most disturbingly, dead bodies everywhere. There is death everywhere. 116 people lost their lives and many were injured in a stampede during a religious event in Hathras.

Many questions are being raised after this incident. Such incidents happen frequently and no action is taken against fake babas who commit such killings in the name of stampede. Just names change, faces change, places change but sitting on the throne of faith do you get the freedom to send people to death like this every time? The question is why? Who gave these people this discount coupon of mismanagement and negligence?

There are also questions…

  • During which religious event did this stampede take place?
  • What was the real reason behind the stampede?
  • Who is responsible for over 100 deaths in Hathras?
  • Why is the police administration being accused of negligence?
  • Why are hospitals being accused of malpractice?
  • Why is the entire system in question due to the Hathras incident?

The answer to the first question is that there is a place in Hathras, Ratibhanpur where the concluding program of the Satsang was held. The name of the person who was conducting the satsang is Bhole Baba. It has been reported that he often tells devotees in his satsangs that he has served in the intelligence unit of the police. Before long, he quit his job and started preaching with his wife. He is a resident of Patiali village in Eta district. And the material world is known as Hari.

Thousands of people attend satsang every time. Baba’s Dharma Sabha was also held in Hathras on Tuesday. When the team of TV-9 Bharat Varsh reached the ground, eyewitnesses said that there was a crowd of 50 thousand people present. The question was asked who gave the permission to gather this crowd? The reply was that the permission of the satsang program was taken from the district administration. But we have one more information about this Baba. It is being said that many times more people reached Hathras than were asked to attend the event.

Now the question is how did the stampede happen?

So the primary information about this is that the program of this satsang was going on in an open place. After satsang was over people were leaving together. The space was small so the exit door was also small. Then suddenly there was a stampede. People fell on each other. Due to heat and humidity, the situation is continuously worsening.

Another theory is also coming forward that the narrator Bhole Baba’s caravan started leaving after the satsang was over. Meanwhile, the devotees also started going to their homes. A section of the crowd stayed to evacuate Baba’s caravan and in the meantime a stampede ensued. People fell on each other, after which many died due to suffocation. After so many deaths, Baba is absconding and the police is also looking for the organizers of the satsang.

Who were the organizers, know their names

  • Mahesh Chandra
  • Anar Singh
  • Sanju Yadav
  • moon god
  • Ramprakash

The family members of the deceased raised questions on the system

The families of the injured and the dead have raised serious questions about the system. It is alleged that the police administration reached the spot very late. No relief or rescue operations were initiated at the scene for a long time. The health department does not have a solid system for treatment after an incident of Hathras. People alleged that many people did not even get treatment at the right time. However, the local administration has denied this.

Movement from UP to Delhi has become brisk

CM Yogi Adityanath will go to Hathras today i.e. Wednesday morning and meet the injured. He directed three ministers including Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary, Sandeep Singh, besides the Chief Secretary and DGP to reach the spot. Within a few hours these people have reached Hathras. A meeting was held with the officials at the Chief Minister’s residence. The ADG assured to form a team headed by Agra and Aligarh commissioners and investigate the reasons behind the incident. The government is preparing to take strict action by registering an FIR against the organizers of the event.

The stampede in Hathras echoed in Delhi as well. From President Draupadi Murmu and PM Modi to Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief over this incident. And assured all possible help to the injured and their families. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi appealed to all the workers of the Indian Alliance to join the relief work. However, politics has also become intense on this issue.

What do the statistics say?

It is surprising why stampede happens mostly during religious events. This is a dangerous trend and there is no ban on it in a country of believers like India. During the research, we found a data that tells about this trend. NCRB statistics show that from 2000 to 2013, nearly two thousand people died in stampedes.

A report published in 2023 by the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction (IJDRR) shows that 79 percent of stampedes in India are caused by religious gatherings and pilgrimages. In India and developing countries, most crowd-related accidents occur at religious sites.

Two messages emerge from such accidents

The first is that such a satsang should not be allowed to take place without crowd control and adequate arrangements. Strict action should be taken against the criminals and another message is to the general public to take care of the system along with their faith. Before entering the satsang pandal, make sure to check the exit arrangements. Does he attend the event of a merchant of faith instead of a spiritual master?
