Delhi has got a new Chief Minister. AAP leader Atishi was sworn in as Chief Minister on Saturday, September 21. Atishi has become the 8th and third woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Along with this, five ministers have also taken oath. In which Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat took oath as Cabinet Ministers. Let’s know who is Imran Hussain who has sworn in as a cabinet minister along with CM Atishi.
Imran Hussain was born on 21 May 1981 in New Delhi. He did his early education from Crescent School, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia. He is a prominent name in Delhi politics and is among the prominent leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Imran is currently a member of the 7th Legislative Assembly of Delhi. He has been elected twice as MLA from Ballimaran constituency in Chandni Chowk.
Started political journey in 2012
Imran Hussain started his political journey in the year 2012. In 2012, he contested and won the councilor election from Ballimaran from the Rashtriya Lok Dal political party (RLD). He contested the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket. He was pitted against BJP’s Shyam Lal Morwal, in this election he defeated the BJP candidate by 33,877 votes. He won once again in the 2020 Delhi assembly elections. He defeated BJP candidate Lata by 36,172 votes and was re-elected as MLA.

Many departments got responsibility
Imran Hussain took charge of many departments in the Delhi government. He was given the charge of Food and Civil Supplies, Environment and Forests in the Delhi Cabinet. Imran Hussain is considered close to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Now he has been included in the new cabinet.
Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister on September 17. After being released from jail, he submitted his resignation to Lt. Governor Vinay Saxena. After this, Atishi has been made the Chief Minister of Delhi in his place. However, his tenure is only for five months. Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi in February next year.
