One Gopal Rai’s name is also included in these ministers. He is also one of the members of the party’s national executive. In such a situation, we will know who is Gopal Rai who started politics from Lucknow University. But today he is one of the favorite faces of Kejriwal, who has been made a minister once again.

Gopal Rai is an activist of Aam Aadmi Party and MLA of Babarpur Assembly. Rai’s stature in the party is huge as he is one of the national executive members of the Aam Aadmi Party. Gopal Rai was born on 10 May 1975 in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. Hailing from a farming family, Rai did his primary education from his home district and also did his intermediate.

Political journey started from Lucknow University

Gopal Rai had the image of a leader right from his childhood. From that time he started fighting for the interest of students. Due to this, he was shot during his student days. The day was January 18 and the year was 1999. On this day he was shot inside the campus. The bullet got stuck in his neck bone. For this reason, he joined KGMC for about one and a half years and Todiaganj Homeopathy College for about a year.

Just a few days before this incident, there was firing in Tilak Hostel due to irregularities in room allotment. Gopal Rai was doing his PG in Sociology at LU at that time. He was staying in Habibullah Hostel. This Lucknow University hostel has always been a bastion of student politics there. This incident made him famous in Uttar Pradesh. During this time he was associated with the CPI(M) party.

Participated in many movements

It took him 10 years to make a name for himself in Delhi politics. In fact, he came into limelight in Delhi when he actively participated in the Third Freedom Movement from 9 August 2009 to 23 August 2009. Under his banner, Rai fasted for 15 days at Delhi’s Jantar-Mantar near Parliament House. Rai did not stop here, after this he became active in the Jan Lokpal movement for corruption free India.

After participating in this movement, he also got his reward. Aam Aadmi Party was started in 2012. Rai was one of the members of the party’s national executive. After this, the party fielded Rai as its candidate from Babarpur Assembly in the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections. But he lost the election. Even after this, he did not leave his assembly and continued to work hard as an active worker.

Babarpur made the assembly his stronghold

In the year 2015, the Delhi assembly election came again. The party believed him and he got ticket again from Babarpur. This time the public has not let him down and he has let down the party. This year he won a bumper victory and became MLA. He also got a ministry due to his large stature in the party. He was assigned the Ministry of Transport and Labour. After this, in 2020 he again fought with the party and became an MLA. This time he has been made the Minister of Environment, Development and General Administration Department. Rai, who has maintained his influence in the party, has been sworn in as a minister in the Atishi government after the Kejriwal government.
